- Work as a team to identify pros and cons of the four types of government (anarchy, monarchy, representative democracy, direct democracy). Individuals take notes based on team consensus.
- Jigsaw into specific government teams to create a classroom presentation and discussion comparing the four types of government. Students add additional information to individual notes (ISN pg. 3.3).
- Use ISN notes 3.2 and 3.3 with Got Government? handout to:
- consider a problem faced by the colonists
- determine the best type of government to solve that problem and explain why that type of government would help best
- stand and present individual theories (in some cases a class debate may occur; each problem could be solved by more than one type of governement)
