Marking Period 3 - Week 1
Tuesday
  • I can apply social studies concepts to better understand local, national, and world events, issues, and problems.  GLCE K1.6

Read,  "Getting a Constitution" from The Constitution by Paul Finkelman
Then use Cornell Style to study: 
  1. Take notes
  2. Create quiz questions for your notes
  3. Write a main idea summary

Anarachy or Monarchy?
  1. Create simple illustrations to represent anarchy and monarchy.
  2. Then answer this question: In your opinion, which is a more powerful threat to liberty (the right to think, act, and be an individual): anarchy or monarchy? Why? T1W, 5+

1. Create a Plan for Writing
2. Work through how to put the essay on paper
America’s First Government: the Articles of Confederation
You are a writer of the Articles of Confederation and realize that this plan for government may have been a mistake.  Explain why you and the other writers created the loose confederation of states and give reasons that prove the plan isn’t working.

  1. Thesis statement with claim (no personal pronouns: I, you, we, us)
  2. Four logical reasons that prove the claim
  3. Correct capitalization of proper nouns
